About Me

My name is Cami Grant. I'm 19 years old and I am originally from Las Vegas, Nevada.  I am currently a sophomore attending Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Utah.  I am pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business Management. Some of my hobbies include playing soccer, going for drives with my friends, playing guitar, karaoke, hiking, and other outdoorsy activities, which is why SUU is the perfect school for me.

What Do I Do?

At SUU, I am involved in a club called "SPB", which stands for "Student Programming Board."  This club is responsible for putting on most of the events that happen on campus.  I love being a part of student life and getting a "behind the scenes" look of what goes on at a public university.  Football games, tailgates, comedy shows, dance parties, and movie nights are just a glimpse of what goes on here at Southern Utah University.  Events like these keep students coming back for more- more education and more fun.  Retention rates are proven to be higher when students are involved on campus.  The best part about it?  There is something for everybody!  From sports clubs to drama clubs, and everything in between, everyone can find a home away from home while in college.  Other clubs that I am a part of include the Snowboard Club, Spikeball Club, and the Community Engagement Club.  Student life here in Southern Utah is alike to many other universities, which is why being involved here on campus gives me a good idea of what happens at other four- year schools.  Because I have never attended a community college, I cannot say that student life at a two-year school is the same as it is here, but I am interested to find out how they compare.

Why Is It Important?

Being a current, yet experienced college student is important because I have a year under my belt, but I still have three years left to make the best of my college experience.  You know what they say, college is the best years of your life.  Being involved on campus, especially in the Student Programming Board, allows me to see the positive effect that our events have on students.  We keep track of the participation and popularity of each event.  By doing this, we know what group of students we need to try to reach, so that everyone here can feel like they are at home.
