This past week has been a blast both on and off campus. Rivalry week brings out the best spirit that SUU students have to offer.
SUU vs. WSU
Every college sports team has their rival. Typically, a rivalry is formed based on how far the schools are from one another and also based on if they are in the same conference. SUU's rival team is Weber State University. Because our football team played them this past Saturday, the athletics crew, also known as the Thunder Crew, hosted something known as "rivalry week."
BOOM, ROASTED!
Throughout the week, SPB athletics directors and assistants put on several events to get students excited about the game. On Tuesday, we had a roast party. We roasted marshmallows and mades mores while making fun of, or "roasting" Weber.
On Friday's We Wear RED!
Students caught not wearing red on Friday's may be stopped by the "Red Police" so they know not to make the same mistake ever again. There's no easier way to show pride in your school than simply wearing school colors.
The rest of the week we spent time recruiting people to ride to Ogden on the spirit bus and cheer on the team. The spirit bus allowed for more students to attend an away game than usual. We had to show Weber that we have school spirit regardless of if we're on our home field or not.
GAME DAY
For the students that didn't get a chance to get their ticket before they ran out, we had a watch party in the ballroom. The game was broadcasted and we were able to watch it on a projector with pillows and blankets. The T-birds took a tough loss, 14-29, to the Wildcats. Win or lose, we still love SUU.
To wrap up the week, we had our annual Red and White Dance. Students dressed in formal attire gathered for yet another dance party to take a break from school and have a good time with friends. It was a busy week for the T-birds but it was a blast!
